Dater House Antiques booth at Offerings Show, Marcellus, NY

April 5, 2011

New website!!!!

This is the 3rd website I've designed and this time I've simplified things by maintaining the same domain name, host and design software company WITH 24 hour assistance.  The idea is to regularly update it, add photos, etc...  It's the 21st century and as much as I prefer the 18th and 19th, it's necessary in today's world.  So let me know what you think, it's a work in progress, but I'd love to hear comments, suggestions etc...  It's my New Years resolution to keep it updated - so far so good.

Open for the Season!!

It was a cold spring and tapping the creative juices to arrange my shop wasn't easy this year, but I did it and I'm happy to be open.  Call for hours.  If I'm home, I'm open. Shop is still a little cool, but the warm weather is on the way.

Antiques at Baileys

Winter was a busy season at Baileys with a lot of good merchandise selling quickly. Good items don't hang around long, so check frequently for our new arrivals.  We are constantly looking for good early primitives and country for Baileys.

Speaking of Baileys, check out my sister's booth right next to mine upstairs.  She's got some great stuff, great prices, a good eye and tons of enthusiasm.

Estate Sales

Leann and I are busy working on the next sale coming up April 15 & 16 in Castleton. Check the Times Union, Craigslist and this website for the listing and photos.

Spring Shows

We're very excited about our spring shows, as we're shaking things up a bit.  We are signed up for the Washington County Flea Market and Antique Show April 30, May 1 & 2. Look for us in pole barn 2.  We plan to bring a nice assortment with a lot of on-sale items!

Also new this year:  We are traveling to display at the Offerings show in Marcellus, New York.  Strictly a primitive/country show, it's growing so quickly, the promoter has moved the venue to a larger soccer complex space and added additional choice dealers. This show is worth a trip from anywhere and a wonderful buying experience - a real treat for the primitive senses.

Check out our Show page for details.

Happy Antiquing!

Very pleased to announced that we have been accepted to exhibit at the "Simple Treasures from the Past Antiques and Primitive Goods Show" at Walker Homestead in Brookfield, MA.

The one day show takes place June 18.

This show will take the place of Round Lake on our show schedule.

We are eager to try something new and are happy to join the other country/primitive dealers at this most respected show.

Open late!  It can be frustrating to make it to a shop by closing time.  I've been staying open until 6pm or even a little later, so feel free to stop by on your way home from work.

Washington County Antique show was a great success. We did everything we set out to do. We sold, we bought, we cleaned out, we bought, we networked, we bought, we had a great time, we bought. We are hoarding a few choice things for our upcoming primitive show: Offerings. Information on the show page.

Offerings Show:

A success!  Leann and I traveled to Marcellus, NY for our 2nd Offerings show.  A new venue and location this spring was a welcome  improvement.  We are happy to be included in this primitive/country show and see great things in its future.

A great looking show, how wonderful to have so many primitive/country dealers in one room.  This show is a little kept secret and when the secret gets out - this show will take off.  A great buying opportunity, it's sure to grow in the future.

The fall date has been set!!  Put October 15 on your calendar.  Don't miss this one.

Unpacked with new arrivals in the shop and at Baileys.  We hoarded for the primitive show, but now have moved our new items into the shop and Bailey's.  Make a trip to either before it's carted off to our next venue - Walker Homestead.

     Walker Homestead:

We are gearing up for the next show - traveling to MA this time for our first venture at the Walker Homestead primitive/country show.  We are very excited about this show, how can you not have fun with a chuck wagon, blue grass band and two fields of antiques??  A winning combination.  We hope to see some familiar faces.  Check out our show page for all the details.

Summer activities are keeping us running...swim lessons...kids camp...a little R & R...

Updated a few pictures including Walker Homestead show photos on our Show page.

Just listed the fall show roster, although still enjoying our summer and not quite thinking about shows yet.

Check out Bailey's for lots of new arrivals, as well as our shop.

We are full!!!  Shop is packed and ready for summer and fall.

Just returned from the Colonial Lamp Shoppe with some beautiful additions.  An iron floor lamp and some very nice converted oil lamps.

Happy summer to everyone!

Whew...What a whirlwind summer we had!  Lots of boating, swimming, hiking, biking, reading...everything a summer should be...but now it's back to work!  Leann and I have a full schedule ahead, 3 sales and 2 shows lined up for the next two months.

Lakeside Farm Antiques Show coming up on September 25.  A great buying opportunity!  Lots of Antiques, great prices, old & new friends and cider donuts!!  Can't be beat.  We'll see you there.  Bringing a nice assorted selection of antiques.

Stocked up at Bailey's!  I've been over with some new goodies, check it out, things don't last at Tim's.

Stop on by the shop, calling to make sure is always best - open by chance or appointment.

Buying, Buying, Buying!

We've held more estate sales this year than ever and since finishing the last one, buying has been the agenda.  Check out all of my website pages for new photos of furniture, smalls, accessories, lighting, etc...  I'm stocked for Christmas and my winter shows and am very pleased with my inventory.

Baileys is stocked:

I've just returned from filling my booth at Antiques at Baileys.  A van load of small furniture & primitive and country smalls was just taken over.  Be sure to stop in for the best selection.

Shows and Sales:

My shows and estate sales have been very successful this year.  Offerings was loads of fun with great buying and selling.  Can't wait for the next one.  Just wrapped up St. Sophia's in Albany with a nice amount of sales.  The estate sales have been busier than ever with Leann and myself holding the most we've ever held in a single year.  The word must be getting out!  We enjoy holding them and seeing all of our estate sale customers.  I've updated my show page with a couple of winter dates, be sure to mark your calendar.

"Summer Kitchen" not feeling like summer!

My shop is open - but wear your coat.  The shop looks great, is filled with great stuff, but is very chilly this time of year.  I will remain open as long as the weather isn't ridiculously frigid and the driveway isn't too slippery, and I'm always open by chance or appointment.  Buying and selling never stops all winter and you can certainly always see new things at Baileys.

Thank you to all of our customers
for a great year &
 Merry Christmas to all &
Happy New Year!!

Winter update:

The strangest winter I ever remember - NO snow!! None since October.  It should make for a short winter anyway.

Buying, Buying

Leann and I have been traveling every Friday, mostly to local antique shops.  We like to visit old friends, make some new acquaintances and see what goodies are out there.  It's a great way for me to know where to send my customers when they don't find that special antique in my shop.  Lunch out and a day of antiquing - what a great way to spend a day in the cold winter months!

Shenendehowa Antique Show

A great show!  Lots of customers, dry sunny day, great antiques.  It was a fun successful day.  We're the first booth in the door, if you missed us, put it on your schedule for next year.  Always Superbowl Sunday.

Winter hours:  Open by chance or appointment.  Always happy to open my doors - if you don't mind the cold - especially for anyone traveling a distance, just call.  You can always see my selection at Baileys too.

Gearing up for Schoharie Excited to participate in this show since they had to cancel the Fall show due to the flooding.  One of my favorite shows, always a feast for the eyes.  Check my show page for dates.
